So now that you have created a manual for training an imaginary animal, lets turn the focus on a person or pet in your real life. This is worth 60pts and due next xx (so you have 10 days). Please select goals carefully "I want my little brother to be my slave" won't work, it is too vague and you would have to identify all the things you want him to do very clearly and reward each. "I want my neighbor to ask if I need a ride" or "I want my mom to make me lunch" could very well work because it is specific.
Note: no violence, capitol, or corporal punishment will be acceptable in this assignment. Harm no one... You will use at least 5 of the terms from the animal training manual. They are listed below again for your reference.
Step 1: Who is your subject (cannot be in a psych class and cannot be told that they are part of your homework).
Step 2: What actions do you want to achieve? (what is the unconditioned response?) Why did you select this?
Step 3: What are your options for how to get there? (Classical and Operant conditioning each contain many parts, usually a few are used together)
Step 4: How will you put an option into place and how long will it take? (repetition is key!) (this cannot be started Thursday night!)
Step 5: How will you know if you have "trained" this individual? (how will you asses learning?)
Step 6: What did (or would) you have to modify or change so that you trained them successfully?
Please write up your experiment in detail, step by step.
Step 1= 5pts (this does not have to be a sentence, but explain why you chose this subject.)
Step 2= 5pts (be precise, the only way to mess up this project is to wait too long or be really vague in your goals.)
Step 3= 10pts (this should be at the very least a paragraph. You have many options for how to get someone to do something, discuss what you could have tried and why you rejected that option and instead chose some other way of doing the task.)
Step 4= 20pts (this can be bullet pointed, but you need to go through ALL the steps of your plan.)
Step 5= 10pts (at least a para explaining how you know that they know...)
Step 6= 10pts (did anything go wrong? did you have to do more repetition than you thought you would have to? How did you overcome the issues that you encountered)
Relevant terms to be included in your write up:
unconditioned response
conditioned response
unconditioned stimulus
conditioned stimulus
stimulus generalization
higher-order conditioning
primary reinforcers
secondary reinforcers
negative reinforcement
positive reinforcement
discriminative stimulus
reinforcement schedule
